Born and raised in the Victorville, Ca, Pastor Esteban Vargas accepted Christ as his personal Savior at age 18. After 4 years of following Jesus and serving in the local church he slowly drifted away from the things of God and found himself lost more than ever. Pursuing a career in the music industry he sold and used drugs which led to a lifestyle that would eventually jeopardize his freedom and his life. After years of this lifestyle he knew the only way his life would be saved was to surrender to God. So in July of 2008 he rededicated himself to Christ and found the freedom, peace, and joy that he was looking for.
Pastor Ahelya Vargas was also born and raised in the Victorville, Ca. Raised in the church she became involved in ministry at a young age. She began singing with her sisters and participated in several ministries throughout her teenage years. As a young adult she found herself dealing with personal issues that had brought depression, shame, and guilt. These issues led her to feel lost and lonely but it was during this time that she encountered God in such a way that brought her back to her pursuit of Jesus.
Both Esteban & Ahelya attended Grace Awakening Ministries in Victorville, Ca and served under Pastor Tommy Hinojos (Ahelya’s Father) where they were given the opportunity to oversee the youth ministry and also participate on the church worship team. Their desire for ministry led them to start the Victory House of Prayer in 2011, a prayer ministry that organized prayer meetings for and with ministries throughout the High Desert. They also began organizing Christian concerts and events which became The HD Platform in 2012, an outreach group that used music to share Jesus with the community.
Pastors Esteban and Ahelya became ordained ministers in 2014 and planted Redemption High Desert that same year.
